Transverse myelitis is a rare inflammatory neurological disorder. It is one of a group of “neuroimmunologic‟ diseases of the central nervous system that damages the spinal cord resulting effectively in a spinal cord injury, this can result in paraplegia or quadriplegia. Many people recover over a period of weeks however some are left with lifelong disability.
Transverse myelitis is a devastating disease which has life changing consequences. Everyone is different and every person with a spinal cord injury presents differently.
